PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private instrumental or voice lessons are at the center of every musician’s education, and are essential to developing a lifelong love of music. The Conservatory offers private instruction to students ages six through adult in nearly every orchestral, band, and jazz instrument, as well as in piano, guitar, voice, and a variety of world music instruments. Instructors tailor private lessons to address the learning style and goals of each student, from the beginner to the advanced student aspiring to a career in music. Equal emphasis is placed on developing technical proficiency, interpretive skills, individual creativity, and self-confidence. Performance opportunities are available to all students at least once per semester. Private lessons are offered through the Classical, Jazz, and Suzuki Divisions. The Conservatory’s knowledgeable and experienced registration staff can assist new students and parents in selecting an appropriate instructor and lesson length. Division directors are also available by appointment to meet and discuss individual needs and musical goals.

Fall or Spring 15-Week Semester:
30-MINUTE LESSON. $660
45-MINUTE LESSON. $875
1-HOUR LESSON. $1,125

CLASSES AND ENSEMBLES
To complement and reinforce private instruction, the Conservatory offers musicianship and theory classes, as well as ensemble-playing and performance opportunities, affording students of all ages the benefit of a well-rounded music education. Jazz ensembles, classical chamber music, and a selection of choirs and vocal workshops allow students to put their private study into practice and to share music-making with others. Students as young as eighteen months may begin music and movement group classes through the Music Adventures Division. Students registered for private lessons receive significant discounts when enrolling in most group classes and ensembles. Class descriptions and prices are organized by division. CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Committed students in the Classical, Jazz, and Suzuki Divisions may work toward a Certificate of Achievement by completing a prescribed program of private study, group class work, ensemble playing, and performance. MUSIC THERAPY
The Conservatory’s Music Therapy Program offers both private and group sessions to children and adults with special needs. The program’s experienced faculty have master’s-level training in music and special education, and adjust curriculum to address the developmental goals and needs of each student. Whether through general music activities or therapeutic instruction on a particular instrument, music therapy has been proven to open new pathways for learning and communication, while providing an outlet for creative expression. PROFESSIONAL STUDIES DIVISION
Established in 1959, the Conservatory’s Professional Studies Division welcomes serious students at the undergraduate and graduate levels wishing to pursue a career in music. The program recruits students worldwide, and in recent years has enrolled and graduated musicians from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Students concentrate their studies in the area of either classical or jazz, with majors offered in piano (performance and collaborative), voice, all orchestral instruments, guitar, theory, conducting, and composition. A small student-to-faculty ratio ensures personal attention and mentorship for all students. A high school diploma or equivalency is required of all applicants, as is a live audition demonstrating a high level of musical accomplishment and appreciable prior study.
