TAJ MAHAL CONCERT A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
The legendary bluesman Taj Mahal performed at a benefit concert for the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music on Saturday, February 9th. The sold-out concert was a resounding success! Here he is joined on stage by Conservatory faculty member Renee Manning. He was also joined by our Jazz Division Director, Earl McIntyre, on horns. McIntyre has played with Taj Mahal many times over the years -- including on the 1971 live album "The Real Thing" recorded at the Fillmore East. If you missed this concert see below for rave reviews from some of our attendees, and be sure not miss out on future Conservatory events and concerts!
"I've been to a lot of concerts in New York City, and this one was one of the best I've ever seen! The Brooklyn Queens Conservatory did a wonderful job hosting the concert and everything was well organized. For the price, I'd say any BQCM concert is definitely one of the best things to do in NYC, Brooklyn, or Queens. I would not hesitate to attend any concert of theirs again, and look forward to the next one."
"This was a unique and incredible concert that left the whole crowd wanting more. The BQ Conservatory did a great job pulling this off, and the entertainment was top-notch. Kudos!"
"I thought this was amazing! As a 23 year old that is newly living in New York, I thought this event was wonderful. I consider myself as having a well rounded taste in music, and this event opened me up more to the Blues. Having never really heard of Taj Mahal, this event was a great introduction to blues, and especially his type of hybrid blues."
