SUPPORTERS
As one of the oldest and largest music conservatories in the United States, Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music has trained generations of musicians, whom have gone on to illuminating careers in music or have become supportive audiences and contributors to the arts.
The Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory firmly believes that music should be accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Some students or their families do not have the means to fully cover tuition and fees. The Scholarship Program of the Conservatory awards scholarships based on need. Funding for scholarships depends upon contributions from individuals and foundations. With this financial assistance, many of our most talented students have been able to enjoy the musical growth necessary as a prerequisite to becoming a music professional or a music devotee.
However, the Conservatory is a lot more than a place where one can learn to play a musical instrument or write a musical composition. For the past twenty-five years, Brooklyn Conservatory has increased its services to the community, by instating programs of education and outreach.
-
Music Partners Program--created in response to the lack of funding for arts in public schools--provides musical instruction to over 2,700 public primary and middle school students in Brooklyn and Queens.
-
Music Partners also extends to Conservatory’s reach senior citizens by conducting programs in senior centers.
-
Music Therapy Program offers individual and group music therapy for children and adolescents with special needs.
-
Community Orchestra offers members of the community with an avocation in music the opportunity to rehearse and perform orchestral music under the guidance of the Conservatory’s resident conductor,
-
Community Concerts provides audiences with over 100 classical, jazz, and world music concerts annually, both at the Conservatory’s concert halls, and at venues throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
