PRESCHOOL
MUSIC ADVENTURES
Exposure to music at a young age plays an important role in developing a life-long appreciation of the arts. Preschoolers can enroll in Music Adventures, an innovative program that encourages creative expression through music, dance and related arts including painting, story-telling and acting. Each class is limited in size and is age specific.
The Music Adventures curriculum utilizes techniques drawn from Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze teaching strategies, and stresses the physical and rhythmic aspects of music. We seek to encourage creative expression through music and other related arts, including dance, painting, story-telling and acting. Children develop rhythmic, listening and motor skills through a variety of singing, clapping and movement games.
KEYBOARD ADVENTURES
Children ages 4 to 6 learn the basics of piano and musical notation in a small group setting. Each child has their own keyboard in the class, as the students play individually and together. After several semesters, students are ready to begin private instruction.
RHYTHM ADVENTURES
Children aged 4 to 6 are introduced to the basics of percussion instruments and are taught the basic concepts of rhythm, pulse and drumming from around the world. Basic notation is taught and children learn to interact in a musical setting, including performing for one another, memorization and the dynamics of sound.
VIOLIN ADVENTURES
Traditional violin technique is taught in a group setting, for children ages 4 to 6. Children learn to interact in a musical setting, including performing for one another, as they learn to play the violin. Students learn the basics of reading music and also do simple ensemble work. After several semesters of Violin Adventures, students are ready to begin private instruction.
