Celebrating the golden anniversary of the opening of its Queens campus, Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music is presenting a
Solid Gold Awards Gala
on Monday, June 5, 2006, at 6:30 p.m.
The Supper Club
240 W. 47th St., New York
(between Broadway and 8th Avenue).
The distinguished drummer and music educator, T.S. Monk, will host the event, which will honor BMI, an American performing rights organization that represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers in all genres of music; and David Amram, the renowned composer, conductor, and multi-instrumentalist, who has written more than 100 orchestral and chamber works, as well as scores for theater and film, including “Splendor in the Grass” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”
The evening will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and a Silent Auction of items ranging from the use of summer homes to music memorabilia.
A sit-down dinner will start at 7:30 p.m., followed by presentation of awards and entertainment by T.S. Monk, Beth Levin, Renee Manning, Cecil Bridgewater, Lance Murphy, Earl McIntyre, Terence Conley, Norman Pors, David Wechsler, Joe Lepore, Ken Murphy, Victor See Yuen, Mark Johnson, and others.
