ALAN THOMPSON MA, MT-BC, LCAT Music Therapy Alan Thompson is a Licensed Creative Art Therapist in New York State. Alan received a Masters degree in Music Therapy from New York University in 2004 and a post-masters certification from the Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy at New York University. Alan uses the creative process of active music making, including improvisation, song writing, and recording, to engage clients to achieve clinical and/or musical goals. He has worked in diverse settings with many populations throughout New York City and leads workshops and presentations on using Rap and Improvisation music therapy techniques. Alan also works in the Home and Community Based Waiver program for St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, as part of the Child & Family Institute, providing intensive services for seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents at imminent risk of hospitalization.
