EUGENIA BETMAN Piano Hailing from the Republic of Georgia, Ms. Betman got a B.A. in Piano Performance & Pedagogy from the Conservatory Music School for gifted children and got her M.A. in Piano Performance, Accompaniment & Pedagogy from the Georgian State Conservatory of Music, where she also did advanced post-graduate study in chamber music. Ms. Betman taught piano at the Special Music School of Georgian State Conservatory to students aged from 5 to 17, three of her pupils won first place in the Annual Tbilisi Competition, and one went on to win first place in the All-Republic Competition. She was Associate Professor of Piano and Chamber music at the Georgian State Conservatory from 1982 till 1994. In 1995, she moved to New York and has been teaching piano at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and Borough Park Music School. Ms. Betman was a frequent soloist for the Georgian State Philarmonic Orchestra, including a premiere for the work “Variations on a Hebrew Folk Theme for Piano and Orchestra” in 1993, written by composer Tsintsadze for her. She was soloist in a 1993 Concert videotaped for Israeli TV. In New York, Ms. Betman has given various recitals and recorded Chopin’s waltz in A major for the movie “Welcome to the dollhouse”.
