Music Adventures Division
(ages 18 months – 6 years)
Music Adventures is an innovative program that encourages creative expression through music, dance, and related arts, including painting, story-telling, and acting. Classes are structured around a progressive and sequential curriculum, incorporating themed units on topics such as dinosaurs, jazz and classical music, and world cultures—all as a means of teaching elements of music and movement. Students play pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments both individually and in groups, and use a variety of engaging props for movement and dance activities. Each class is limited in size and many are team-taught by two professionals: a music specialist trained in the Orff and Kodály pedagogy methods, and a movement and dance specialist. Classes for children from eighteen months to three years of age require a parent or guardian to be present and participating in class. Children ages three to six attend class by themselves. For more information please contact the registration desk at 718.622.3300 x10.
